AZL: PS-2 Covered Hoppers, All New AZL Tooling, December 2009

American Z Line is excited to announce an all new freight car body style: the 4,750 CuFt. Pullman Standard PS2-CD 3-bay covered hoppers.

The PS2-CD covered hoppers first were produced starting in the early 1970s and they can be easily identified by the 3 bays and the 18 exterior ribs. Over 54,000 were produced. The PS2 4750 cu ft 3-Bay covered hopper has a weight of 100 tons. The cars were generally equipped with elongated 'trough' hatches and Barber S-2 100 ton trucks. Grain hauling was the most common use for these cars, although many of these cars were modified with round hatches for specialty chemical service and other commodities.These cars were purchases by many major roads as well as smaller and independent operators. They are still extensively used today with many sporting their original circa 1970s livery.

AZL's PS2-CD covered hoppers will feature AZL's roller bearing trucks with our new profile blackened metal wheels and all new AZL Auto-Latch couplers. The cars also feature intricate etched metal walk ways and extensive details.
